Performance
The Blueair 605 removes allergens like dust, pet dander, pollen, and mold spores from the air using a HEPA filter and an electrostatic filter. Because it uses ions, it’s also able to neutralize odors and airborne germs. Looking at its CADR ratings, it’s clear that this air purifier is one of the most competitive models out there in terms of pollutant removal, making it a great model for people with respiratory issues. In fact, the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Association recommends it to allergy and asthma sufferers.
On the other hand, the 605, by default, does not come with a dedicated carbon filter. Though the ionizer helps combat odors, it’s quite disappointing to see such an expensive model without this feature. The carbon-based Blueair SmokeStop filter is sold separately.
Lastly, like many other Blueair air purifiers, the 605 boasts the SurroundAir technology which was designed to maximize airflow while avoiding air drafts. This ensures that clean air is properly circulated all around the room. However, note that even though the 605 minimizes air drafts, using it on the highest speed setting will still produce a noticeable level of noise.
Features
The Blueair Friend app is the focal point of this air purifier’s lineup of convenient features. Through the app, users are able to control the device’s timer and speed setting. You’ll also be able to monitor the status of air pollution inside your room through the app. Curiously, it doesn’t have an auto mode in spite of having air quality sensors. At the very least, it has a night mode that minimizes noise and turns off the indicator lights.
The 605 is fitted with a filter change indicator to let you know when a replacement is due. Blueair estimates that its filters are good for around 6 months, which is a pretty average length for an air purifier.
Design
The Blueair 605 has a digital control panel that has easy-to-read LED icons which tell you the status of the air purifier’s Wi-Fi connection, filter condition, and current fan speed. This model also boasts touch controls, so it should be pretty straightforward to use. But if using its control panel is inconvenient, you can always control the air purifier on your smartphone while using its accompanying app.
Size-wise, the 605 is, without a doubt, one of the largest air purifiers we’ve encountered. It weighs 35 lbs. and has dimensions of 26 x 20 x 13 inches. With that said, it might be more convenient to buy multiple units of this model if you can afford to do so since moving it from room to room might prove difficult. However, if no stairs are involved, its caster wheels may be enough to assist you.
Warranty and Support
The Blueair 605 originally comes with a 1-year warranty, but registering the product easily extends this to five years. This is the norm for high-end air purifiers, but it is nonetheless reassuring to be given such a lengthy warranty period. Blueair, being a popular air purifier company, also has customer support channels that are accessible and responsive.
Final Thoughts
If you enjoy having home appliances that are fitted with all the best that mobile technology has to offer, you’d likely appreciate having the Blueair 605 in your home. Although it’s not a True HEPA air purifier, its CADR ratings are impressive enough for it to be highly-recommended to asthma and allergy sufferers.
