With a coverage area of 186 sq. ft. and clean air delivery rate (CADR) ratings of 140 (dust), 150 (pollen), and 120 (smoke), this air purifier will do well in small to medium rooms. Performance
This model banks on a HEPASilent Plus filter to carry out purification. The HEPASilent Plus filter uses a HEPA-type mechanism that’s been augmented by electrostatic filtration to achieve better results. This removes pollutants like dust, mold spores, and pet dander from the air. Moreover, this filter also has an integrated activated carbon layer that neutralizes odor and smoke molecules to keep your home fresh-smelling.
While True HEPA filters are still superior to HEPA-type filters (like Blueair’s HEPASilent Plus) in terms of cleaning performance, Blueair manages to somehow reduce the gap between them through the above-mentioned supplementary electrostatic filtration. Another benefit of electrostatic charge-reliant mechanical filters is they’re able to operate more quietly than their True HEPA counterparts. So, if you don’t mind trading in having a True HEPA filter for a slightly less efficient but quieter alternative, the Sense+ may be a great match for you.
Features
As a feature-packed air purifier, the Sense+ boasts Wi-Fi capability that lets it connect to the Blueair Friend app, which you can download on your smartphone or tablet to set the timer, control the speed setting, turn on or turn off the child safety feature, and enable the device’s auto mode. It also lets you monitor the state of air quality in the room through your mobile device. Note that these features—save for speed setting adjustment—can only be accessed via the app. The Blueair Sense+ can also be connected to an Alexa-enabled device if you want added voice control capabilities. Lastly, there’s an electronic filter change indicator that notifies you when the filter cassettes need to be replaced.
Design
You can get the Sense+ in one of six colors: Polar White, Ruby Red, Midnight Blue, Leaf Green, Graphite Black, and Warm Grey. Because of its understated yet universally-flattering design, it should complement the interior design of most homes. It has a wraparound housing with inlet and outlet grilles on the sides and a simple front panel.
The top panel on the Sense+ houses its non-touch speed control panel. Basically, motion sensors are installed on the machine so that you’re able to change the speed setting with a swipe of your hand.
At 25 lbs. and with dimensions of 7” x 18.5” x 19”, the Blueair Sense+ isn’t the lightest machine out there. Evidently, it wasn’t designed to be a portable model that you can easily carry all around your home.
Warranty and Support
The Blueair Sense+ originally comes with a 1-year warranty, but registering the product on the website will automatically upgrade the warranty to a 5-year one. Aside from having an updated support page, Blueair also boasts multi-channel customer service. They also have physical stores all around the world if you want to see the products for yourself before buying.
Final Thoughts
If you’re fine with getting an air purifier with a HEPA-type filter (as opposed to a True HEPA one), then the Blueair Sense+ is a great high-end option. Fans of high-tech devices will surely find its array of Wi-Fi-dependent features attractive. Also, if you own a smart home or are trying to transition your house into one, then its Alexa compatibility will definitely be a huge plus.
