VERY GOOD
What we like about this product is that it is a very efficient air purifier. We don't like that it consumes quite a lot of energy when operating and that it is quite noisy as well.
Clean indoor air keeps you at your healthiest state; it keeps you comfortable; and it can even improve the quality of your sleep. This is why we recommend that you use a good air purifier.
Honeywell is one of the most popular air purifier brands these days. One of its best models is the Honeywell 50250-S. This unit comes at a reasonable price and is great for cleaning the air inside rooms that are up to 390 square feet. If you’re interested in buying the 50250-S, we recommend that you take this review into consideration.

Technical specifications
The 50250-S comes equipped with three cleaning levels and can help to reduce the amount of harmful airborne particles and odors in a given space. It is suitable for a wide range of uses and is excellent for medium to large living rooms, bedrooms, offices, kitchens, and more. It boasts a long-life True HEPA filter, which eliminates up to 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns. It also has an odor-reducing carbon pre-filter that has to be replaced every three months or so. This is a rather short lifespan for a pre-filter, but the cleanable True HEPA filter makes up for it because it lasts for a lifetime.
The CADR ratings for the 50250-S are 250 for smoke, 250 for dust, and 250 for pollen. These performance stats are impressive (especially for the device’s price), but it tends to consume more power than many comparable models. At the lowest fan setting it uses up 89 watts; at the medium setting, up to 143 watts; and at the highest setting, 185 watts.
Moreover, it’s not exactly the quietest option out there. On the lowest fan setting, it produces 49 dB of noise, which is comparable to a quiet conversation. Meanwhile, on the highest fan setting, it produces about 62 dB, which equates to very noticeable background noise. If you’re not too sensitive to noise or if you enjoy some white noise in the bedroom, though, you’ll likely enjoy reaping the benefits of having this air purifier inside your home.

Performance
This product offers good CADR values for medium-to-large spaces. It captures harmful particles that can affect your health, such as dust, pet dander, pollen, and even tobacco smoke. Since it only uses a True HEPA filter and a carbon pre-filter, however, you can’t expect it to neutralize airborne germs as efficiently as a model with a dedicated UV-C lamp. To be fair, though, the 50250-S is mainly marketed towards allergy sufferers who are concerned about the aforementioned particles.
Its cylindrical design enables it to collect air from all directions. It has a 360-degree air intake vent, which it claims to provide the highest level of efficiency. The carbon pre-filter also prolongs the filter-cleaning interval of the True HEPA filter since it removes large particles before they actually enter the HEPA filter. Obviously, the presence of carbon means that common odors will also be reduced.
Features
Honeywell claims that their air purifiers are the most recommended models by allergists. This particular device features SurroundSeal Technology, which helps minimize air leaks and ensure that the flowing air actually passes through the filters.
Unfortunately, the 50250-S is not equipped with special sensors that monitor air quality. Again, at its price point, you can’t really expect it to do so. It does have an Intelli-Check electronic filter indicator, though, that tells you if the HEPA filter needs to be cleaned or if the pre-filter needs to be replaced. While it doesn’t have an auto mode, you can manually choose from three speeds if you feel like adjusting the device’s cleaning level. These speeds or modes are Sleep (low speed), Day (medium speed), and Turbo (high speed).
We recommend that you allow the device to operate at Turbo speed for faster and more powerful room cleaning. Once a good level of air quality is achieved, you can then adjust the knob to either the Day setting or the Sleep setting for quieter operation.
Design
This unit measures 18 inches in width, 18 inches in depth, and 19 inches in height. It also weighs 20.01 pounds. Moreover, it features a cylindrical shape with a wide top and base, which is rather unique as most other air purifiers are in console or tall-and-thin tower form. Honeywell lets you choose between a black or a white finish.
The handle attached on its body should make it easy for you to move it from one place to another. Since it has a singular knob governing its functions, it’s very easy to understand and operate. LED indicators assist the knob controller, with blue lights indicating the specific speed setting being run.
Warranty and support
This product has a 5-year warranty. This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship and includes either the repair or replacement of the product. Be aware that commercial and improper use, as well as further damage caused by negligence, leads to voiding the warranty,. Lastly, take into consideration that this warranty is valid in the U.S. and Canada only. For further information, you can contact Honeywell’s Customer Service hotline.
Final Thoughts
Because it’s fitted with different filters to eliminate particulate pollutants, smoke, and odors, the Honeywell 50250-S would suit people who are very particular about the quality of the air they breathe. If you’re not really looking for a high-performance air purifier and would rather save money, know that cheaper, quieter, and more basic air purifier models exist. For a model that offers a long-lasting True HEPA filter, wide coverage, and different speed settings, though, the 50250-S’ price tag is actually more than reasonable.
